Major Renovation Projects
Wayne High School
Located on the south side of Fort Wayne, Wayne High School originally opened to students in 1972. A 22,805 sf addition housing Wayne's New Tech program was constructed in 1995, but no major improvements to the original 284,000 sf structure or systems have been completed in the building's 48 years of service.
Blackhawk Middle School
Blackhawk Middle School was constructed in 1972 and is a feeder school for the Snider High School area. Minor improvements have been completed in that time, with the latest being a renovation of the kitchen and cafeteria area in 2018, however, most of the building's infrastructure is original and is in need of replacement and/or updating.
Miami Middle School
Miami Middle School was constructed in 1976 and at 44 years young it is FWCS's "newest" school building. Minor improvements have been completed in that time, however, most of the building's infrastructure is original and is in need of replacement and/or updating. Shawnee Middle School is the sister school of Miami and is currently being renovated as part of the REPAIR FWCS Phase 2 program approved in 2016.
